Welcome to the Internet Home of The Ellen Taylor Foundation for Junior Shaggers

Mission:

The Ellen Taylor Foundation for Junior Shaggers is a non-profit charitable foundation dedicated to financial assistance in the education, preservation, and promotion of the Shag, the state dance of South Carolina.

Background:

The Ellen Taylor Foundation for Junior Shaggers ("ETFJS") was founded in 2007 by Mrs. Ellen Taylor and incorporated as a SC 501-3(c) organization in 2008. The purpose of the ETFJS is to remove financial barriers that prevent those under 21 from learning and participating in the shag dance. Examples of this include providing free dance shoes, funding workshops, and providing meal, lodging, and gas vouchers for shag dance events such as Junior SOS at North Myrtle Beach.

The ETFJS thanks you for your interest and support. Donations are now being accepted. Donations to the ETFJS should be considered tax-deductible for individuals and corporations and should be eligible for matching gifts by employees of some corporations. All donations are subject to State & Federal tax rules and the ETFJS encourages donors to seek independent tax advice.

12 Apr 2010 Foundation News »

Junior SOS 2010 is July 13th Tuesday through July 18th Sunday.

Our Shoe Salon will be open various days and various hours Tuesday through Saturday between the hours of 9: a.m. to 9: p.m. (Not every day 9 to 9).

Last year 14 individuals gave generously of their time and energy in making our 2009 Shoe Distribution a great success. Together we volunteered 106 hours. This year we are determined to be even more successful so I’m recruiting additional volunteers.

The 2010 scheduling of volunteers to work a few hours distributing free shoes to our Junior Shaggers will begin as soon as the Junior SOS schedule is ready for publication.

We hope we can count on you for a few hours this year and if you have a friend who would like to volunteer please have him/her contact me by phone 843 272 2337 or e-mail (betty2275@aol.com).

Based on the above dates, please look at your calendars and detailed appointments to see if you can squeeze a few more hours into your already busy schedule to come and share in the fun of giving shoes to our young Shag Dancers.

Please drop me a note if you can or can not help this year. Thanks a million and I do look forward to YOUR “YES” reply. If you are unable to volunteer this year we will totally understand and maybe you will drop by our shoe salon just to say hello and see the happy faces of these Junior Shaggers.

Thanks for your consideration
